2023 Summer Programming
IMPROVANEERS
This summer Improvaneers is offered in person only. We will start virtual classes back up in the fall. The program helps build and develop cognitive skills that increase social and workplace opportunities. Classes meet once weekly. Improv has been proven to build Quicker-Thinking, Problem Solving, Self-Confidence, Eye Contact, Teamwork, Listening Voice Projection, and Focus.

CULINARY ARTS
For people with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities 9th grade through adult. Join friends each week to prepare and eat a snack or meal. No prior kitchen experience is required! Class includes take home recipes to recreate in your own kitchen. Cost includes food/materials.

PERFORMING ARTS GROUP
For people with Down syndrome in 9th grade through adult. Continuing through 2023, Lizz and Shelby will be working with the performers on their own production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. These summer sessions will continue to work on performing arts with an outdoor setting in Bloomington.
Cost = $100.00 per session

2023 Summer Camps
Intro to Theater (Middle School)
For people with Down syndrome, ages 5th - 8th Grade, this camp is an introductory to Theater. This is a great way to ease into the Performing Arts program with Lizz & Shelby. Students will work on what it is like to be on stage and what it takes to be in a performance. Students will practice rehearsing lines, using tone and inflection as well as be an enthusiastic and respectful audience member.
Cost = $75.00 per camper

Comedy & Physical Theater Camp (High School through Adult)
For people with Down syndrome, entering High School - Adult. In this high energy camp students will learn theatrical techniques in comedy and physical theater. Using techniques including mime and clowning exercises, students will explore the parts of them that are uniquely hilarious. There is no experience or specific ability required. The camp is catered toward less verbal forms of comedy and storytelling.

Puppetry Camp (Middle School)
For people with Down syndrome, ages 5th - 8th Grade. Participants will explore what it means to be a good friend and a part of a community using puppetry to express their creativity and individuality. Participants will craft their own puppets for use in this class. Using puppets and object theater, we will explore and enact what our values are as friends and create theatrical scenarios in order to practice friendship and connection with one another. Participants will also work on active listening skills and practice asking questions. This class will conclude with a final puppet performance for parents and friends! All materials and supplies will be provided.

Program Scholarships and Financial Support
Cost should not be a barrier to participation in any DSAMN program. All our programs are offered on a sliding fee scale based on Federal Poverty Level Guidelines. Families living at or below 200% if FPL are eligible for the sliding scale.
If fees are an issue for any family even if you do not meet the guidelines above, please email dsamn@dsamn.org - we can help.
Health Policy
At this time masking is optional at all of DSAMn's programs and events. We ask that if you are sick with any symptoms to please stay home or attend virtually if available. If you have recently recovered from an illness please wear a mask to protect others in our vulnerable population. Masking requirements subject to change based on local requirements.
