Raising a child with a disability can be more costly than raising a child without one. For families with limited or modest financial means, the additional costs can add up. Factor in lost wages, unpaid leave, or even the loss of a job and the family may find themselves in a financial crisis. We are here to help.
DSAMn’s Emergency Financial Assistance Fund launched March 2020 in response to COVID-19. We offer emergency financial assistance to support individuals and families facing financial hardship. To date we’ve provided $45,029 to 201 families. For families this money is immediate, flexible and can be used wherever they need it most — groceries, transportation, diapers, utilities, assistance with housing, etc.
We know this is not a long term solution, but that is where our Family Connectors come in connecting the family to additional resources, benefits, and programs that can turn the tide.
Starting today and running through Giving Tuesday (November 29), we are trying to raise $21,000 to replenish this fund for next year.
