Federal Government Shutdown - SNAP/food benefits will be reduced in November
On October 21, 2025 the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) sent official notice to all affected recipients. Initially, due to the government shutdown, SNAP and MFIP food benefits were not going to be issued in November. This has since changed. SNAP allotments will now be reduced. The MFIP cash portion will continue to go out in November. What does this mean for the Down syndrome community in Minnesota?

Visit SNAP_November_2025_Benefit_Guidance_Reduction_Tables.pdf for more information on what the reduction will look like for your family.
2) Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) food portion will be reduced.

3) Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) services will continue.
