
Core Responsibilities: Connecting families to community resources and assisting them in navigating complex systems as they advocate for their loved one with Down syndrome.
Previous Experience: Sarah holds an Associates degree in Business and Arts from University of Phoenix, she was a previous board member of the ARC, Pacer Leadership Training & Partners and Policymaking graduate, as well as a Special Olympics Community Coach.
Personal Fun: Sarah and her family have a hobby farm they use for kids with disabilities.
More info: Sarah has a background in non profit and advocacy. For over 20 years she has been advocating for children with Down syndrome and complex medical needs. She is a Class 34 Partners in Policymaking graduate and proudly sits on both Northwoods Caregivers and Bemidji Unified Board of Directors. She co facilitates her local area Down syndrome group with support of two other moms. She enjoys working to help new complex families as well as families who are transitioning an adult with disabilities. Sarah has 5 children two with disabilities and her youngest son is 20 years old with Down syndrome. She lives with her family in Northern Minnesota and enjoys being outdoors fishing, foraging and enjoying nature. Her husband is an avid outdoorsman and started a guide service to give back to veterans and kids with disabilities. Giving back to mentor others and our community is something that gives us joy and we can do in memory of our youngest daughter who passed away with complex medical needs.
