Tee It Up for Down Syndrome is one of the Down Syndrome Association of Minnesota's largest fundraisers. Money raised supports individuals with Down syndrome and their families from birth through adulthood. Our programs, events, and support services help connect, empower, and celebrate our community. We need your help. The needs of our community are growing and changing. More and more families are finding out about their child's diagnosis prenatally and people with Down syndrome are living into their sixties. Our support for each individual has now grown to span 6 to 7 decades. This means our programs need to grow in both size and complexity to adapt and fully serve individuals and families in these changing times. Employment becomes more important than ever as showcased during the dinner and program portion of the event.
In addition to the growing population, our efforts to educate the broader community about people with Down syndrome are growing too. Our classroom kits reached a whopping 33,080 elementary school students this year in more than 1,200 classrooms across Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.
Tee It Up for Down Syndrome has a totally new look this year including a one-of-a-kind dining experience and program after the golf event hosted and emceed by Teddy Spencer, DSAMn Board Co-Chair & Self-Advocate and Sarah Curfman, DSAMn President & CEO with food from our friends at Broders' Cucina Italian. Our entire waitstaff is comprised of experienced food service workers with Down syndrome to demonstrate that our community is ready, willing and able to work. We will be on tour of Italy with a variety of pastas, entrees, appetizers and deserts--all served table side by our experienced servers and staff.
